2026 General Federation of Women's Club - Gun Lake Area Visual and Performing Arts Student Grant Application (55197)

Purpose and Description
INTENT: The purpose of the General Federation of Women’s Club- Gun Lake Area is to supply funding for high school student involvement in summer opportunities in the Arts. Students attending Delton Kellogg, Martin, Thornapple Kellogg and Wayland Union High Schools are eligible. Grants are available in the amount up to $500. MANAGEMENT: Our grants are offered through a coordinated effort with the Barry Community Foundation. These art grants are designed for undergraduate high school (fall incoming freshman through fall incoming senior) students seeking accredited summer program opportunities in numerous mediums and artistic pursuits – including but not limited to visual arts (drawing, painting, photography, graphic design, three-dimensional sculpture, ceramics, digital media, mixed media and printmaking,) writing, theatre, film, music (instrumental, vocal) and dance. All types of artistic pursuits are welcome. APPLICATION: These grants require an online grant application form and an accompanying teacher recommendation form to be received by Barry Community Foundation before May 1st. Student application responses should reveal in a submitted written statement why participating in the arts is important to the applicant, and how the applicant will benefit from summer study. The written comments should discuss the student’s aspirations, their work as an artist, how their artistic endeavors apply to society and how the scholarship will benefit the student and their community is required. SELECTION: Recipient selection is based upon the quality of the content submission and artistic performance, leadership/community service experience and contribution, and accompanying letter of recommendation. It is required that art grants requests will be received by Barry Community Foundation by May 1st.
